Mechanical Details

Check the pin layout before you finish the PCB. The AC pins are on one side of the UE20-SPA-OP, with the positive and negative output pins on the other. Their positions and spacing are shown below.

The board is 65 × 35mm and the tallest component reaches 24mm. That height is measured above the module’s PCB; leave room underneath for the pins and solder joints when checking the fit inside your equipment.

Input Specifications

The 90–264VAC input covers common nominal 100–240VAC mains supplies without a manual voltage selector. The module connects to the AC input through its L and N pins.

When selecting the equipment’s input switch and fuse, account for the brief cold-start inrush as well as the normal operating current.

Input CharacteristicSpecification
Input voltage range90–264VAC
Frequency range47–63Hz
Input current0.5A at 100VAC
Inrush current60A maximum at 240VAC, cold start
Standby power≤0.3W

Environmental & General

Check the temperature beside the module with the equipment closed and running. Nearby components can heat this space even when the room temperature is moderate.

The derating curve allows full rated load through 50°C, 90% load at 60°C and 80% at 70°C. Use the local operating temperature when deciding how much output your equipment can draw.

Protection

A short circuit, an overloaded output and an overvoltage fault do not recover in the same way on the UE20-SPA-OP. The table below shows what to expect after each protection operates.

Protection FunctionSpecificationRecovery
Overload105–210% of rated output powerAutomatic recovery
Overvoltage105–250% of rated output voltageInput power reset required
Short circuitTrip and restart, hiccup modeRepeated restart attempts while the fault remains

If the equipment repeatedly starts and stops, check the load before continuing the test. The overload threshold is a protection setting, not extra power available for normal operation.

Safety Approvals

Which medical approvals does your project require? For the UE20-SPA-OP, the catalog lists CB to IEC 60601-1 and TÜV Mark to EN 60601-1.

If your lab needs the supporting documents, let us know the output version you plan to use. We can check the relevant certificate and report with you before you settle on the module for your equipment.

EMC

The power module, receiving PCB and wiring become one installation inside your equipment. Evaluate EMC with the intended board position, AC routing and output connections in place, particularly where measurement circuits sit nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

We need a small internal medical supply. Is this model worth trying?
If your circuit needs 9V, 12V or 15V, it is worth checking the UE20-SPA-OP against your layout. The next question is the load. Include everything the supply will power, even accessories that are only used occasionally.

For the first enquiry, your power requirement and a drawing of the available space are enough to start. Tell us the medical approvals you need as well, so we don’t get as far as sampling with an unsuitable configuration.
We wouldn’t recommend it as a direct replacement from that label alone. This model’s 12V output is rated at 1.67A.

Your equipment might draw less than the old adapter’s capacity, but that needs establishing from the equipment specification or testing. If it really needs 2A, we should select a larger supply rather than try to run this one beyond its rating.
Only part of it. The drawing gives you the outline, component height and pin positions. Your assembly also needs room below the board and separation from nearby parts.

This matters when replacing a module in an existing enclosure. A supply can fit into the opening and still be unsuitable for the mounting arrangement. If your enclosure is already made, include the mounting details with the enquiry. We need to compare the installed position, not just the board outline.
Yes. Your team needs time to check the supply with the equipment, including long periods of operation.

Does anything change as the test goes on? Note any unexpected shutdowns, rising temperatures or changes in the equipment’s performance. If a sample develops a fault, keep it and the test records. We’ll need to find out what happened before discussing the production order.
We’d have to look at the drawing before saying yes. Which pins need moving, and by how much?

If the PCB is still in the design phase, please provide the proposed footprint. If the PCB design is already complete, please let us know whether modifications to the board are possible. This will help us determine whether to evaluate localized adjustments to the module or to pursue a redesign.
How many units, and what output voltage and current? Which medical approvals do you need?

Please include any requirements for the pins, wiring and connectors. If you want your own logo or label, mention that too; the artwork can follow later. For a replacement, the old supply’s part number and drawing are useful, particularly if the new one has to fit the same PCB.

Related Models

Still choosing a power supply for your medical equipment? The models below give you other options if the UE20-SPA-OP does not fit your board layout or leave enough capacity for the load.

Compare the output ratings and mechanical drawings alongside your equipment design. A higher wattage may give you more capacity, but it can also mean a larger footprint or different connections. If you’re replacing an existing module, check the pin layout before ordering a sample.
