Common Applications
The UES36A-SPA1 is designed for customized equipment requiring a 20V DC power supply combined with multiple load-control functions. In addition to robotic vacuum cleaners, its integrated power architecture can be adapted through ODM development for projects involving heating, fan, PTC, valve or other controlled loads. Final electrical, mechanical and control configurations are developed according to the requirements of each application.
Frequently Asked Questions
Every custom power project starts with a slightly different set of requirements. Some customers come to us with a complete specification, while others only know the voltage, loads and space they have available. Below are a few practical questions that often need to be cleared up before deciding whether the UES36A-SPA1 is the right base design.
I need a 20V power supply. Is the UES36A-SPA1 the right one?
That depends mainly on how much current your 20V load needs and what else the board has to control. The UES36A-SPA1 provides 20V DC with output current up to 1.80A. If you only need a simple 20V output, there may be a simpler solution. This board makes more sense when the product also has loads such as a fan, heater, PTC or solenoid valve.
Can you make changes to this board for our product?
Yes. We work on an ODM basis, so the standard board can be used as a starting point rather than treating every project as a fixed off-the-shelf product. What needs to change depends on your product—output requirements, connectors, control functions and available board space are usually the first things we look at.
Our machine has a heater and a fan. Do we still need separate control boards?
Possibly not. The UES36A-SPA1 already includes control for a heating wire up to 1200W and a fan up to 650W, along with PTC and solenoid valve functions. One reason this design is useful is that power conversion and several load-control functions can sit on the same board. We would still need to check the actual loads and how you want them controlled before confirming the circuit.
What if our product doesn't have exactly the same loads as a robotic vacuum cleaner?
That’s not necessarily a problem. Robotic vacuum cleaners are the application listed for the standard UES36A-SPA1, but for a custom design we’re more interested in the electrical requirements than the product name itself. If another appliance has a similar combination of 20V DC power, heating, fan, PTC or valve loads, this architecture may still be worth looking at.
Will the board fit our existing enclosure?
The standard size is 164.2 × 72.2 × 26.0 mm. If your available space is close to that, send us the enclosure drawing or the space you have reserved for the power board. That is much more useful than checking length and width alone, because connector position and component clearance can matter once the board goes into the actual machine.
We sell the same product in several countries. Can one power design cover different AC inputs?
The standard input range is 90–264VAC, so it covers the common 115V and 230V mains ranges. The UES36A-SPA1 also lists CB, CCC and cULus safety approvals. Your finished machine will still have its own certification requirements, but these are useful points to check when deciding on the power architecture at the beginning of a project.
How does the board deal with faults such as over-current or overheating?
Short-circuit, over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature and under-voltage protection are included in the specification. Surge immunity is also specified at 2kV. If your equipment has unusual startup loads or frequent switching of heaters and motors, tell us about that early—the actual load profile matters when we review the design.
What do you need from us to start a custom power supply project?
You don’t need to prepare a perfect specification before contacting us. A useful starting point is your input voltage, DC output requirement, load list, available PCB space and the functions you need the board to control. If you already have connector drawings, load specifications or a mechanical drawing, include them. We can work through the remaining details from there.
